Each Controller has immediate access to up-to-date records of companies and individuals addresses and phone-numbers, with the ability to precisely pinpoint locations on electronic maps. Each driver is issued with a handheld computer, Work is given direct to their computer via the internet and GPRS network.
Real-Time Internet Booking
Excel were the first same day courier company in Europe to offer Real-time Internet Booking to our clients. Although e-mail based systems existed; we knew that to offer an accurate, precise and time sensitive service, work would have to be placed directly onto our server, with instantaneous tracking updates available to our clients. With the help of DA Systems, we developed a new and innovative way to place orders with Excel. The interface is simple and intuitive to use, with full postcode checking ability. Journey quotes are available and an e-mail confirmation is sent on acceptance of bookings. Additionally, a proof of delivery can be automatically sent on completion.
Electronic POD/Parcel Tracking
All our drivers carry handheld computers, job details are transmitted from our control system directly to the drivers handheld. Drivers use these computers to signal when they have collected the parcel, they also obtain an electronic signature for all consignments. Our system works in real time so the information is available to customers live via the internet.
GPS Tracking
All of our cars, bikes and vans are fitted with this system. This gives our controllers the ability to pin point vehicles and, if necessary communicate alternative routes to them in the event of traffic queues and accidents. All vehicles fitted with the system appear on a map and zoom in on the map and determine the position of the vehicle to within a metre.
